Pete Castro

Azusa, CA, 1994. It all began back in a garage nicknamed “The Butt Cave” where Pete decided to dedicate his life to tattooing. He started with a prison-style homemade machine that ran off batteries. After a year Pete’s mom helped invest in his first coil machine with which he worked hard to get better. In 1996, Pete met Charles Belñavis who taught him about what needles to use and how to make them. Charles also helped Pete in landing his first job at the Ink Garden in 1997 and from there ended up doing tours of duty at the famous Rose & Dagger Tattoo in East Los Angeles, Blue Bird Tattoo in Pasadena, and eventually joining forces with Charles, Big Joe Reno, and Andrew Moore over at Old Pasadena Tattoo in Old Town. In 2002 they decided to open up Shogun Tattoo on the east side of Pasadena and Pete’s been there ever since.
